Late Season Avalanche Kills Snowmobiler In Wyoming

An avalanche killed a 24 year-old snowmobiler on Wyoming’s Togwotee Pass yesterday.

The victim was reportedly riding in a steep area (36-40°) in the Mt Leidy zone when the wet slab released. The snowmobiler was accompanied by others at the time of the avalanche, none of whom were equipped with proper avalanche safety equipment.

Observer Notes: Exact location not identified. Information is preliminary, limited and unconfirmed. One 24-year-old male snowmobiler was buried and killed. The party was reported to not have any avalanche rescue gear.
