33-year-old Jeffrey R. Pearlstein of Kings Beach, passed away Tuesday morning in a skiing accident at Alpine Meadows.

According to a Placer County Sheriff’s Office news release, Pearlstein suffered fatal injuries after he fell skiing the Keyhole area at around 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Ski patrol and North Tahoe Fire Department personnel responded along with sheriff’s deputies. CPR was initiated, but Pearlstein was pronounced dead at the scene, the news release said.

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows released the following statement:

“We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the young man’s family and friends. We hold them closely in our thoughts and prayers.”

As you can see in the video below, Keyhole is a very steep and technical area of Alpine Meadows.
