A spat of avalanches over the weekend in the Swiss Alps has claimed 3 lives reports The Local.

On Christmas Day, a man was caught in an avalanche near Hofathorn. Fellow climbers were able to quickly locate their partner’s body but it was already too late.

Another fatal avalanche incident involved a group of three in the St Luc region. That avalanche struck at approximately 9,000′ and ultimately claimed the life of a Swiss woman.

Another man from France perished in an avalanche while attempting to summit the swiss peak, Glattwang by himself. He was later found dead by rescue personnel underneath roughly 9 feet of snow.
