On the bright side, we’re pretty sure this won’t be her only shot at a Winter Olympic bid but that doesn’t change the fact it hurts both physically and menatlly for the 16 year-old, Kelly Sildaru.

After suffering an ACL tear while skiing in New Zealand and undergoing the necessary surgical operations, the Estonian national is calling it quits on the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang to recover reports ERR News. The recovery time is currently projected to last between 6-9 months.

“I am determined to put the work in to be back as soon as possible, but also will want to be 100% to ensure a long career.”Kelly Sildaru

A slopestyle specialist, she has already won gold at X-Games twice and is believed to be a budding halfpipe athlete as well. In 2017, she also became the youngest person to grab two gold medals in the X-Games.

Get well soon Kelly!
