Several hikers are still missing in canton Graubünden after the rockslide swept down from Piz Cengalo, through the Val Bonasca and onto the village of Bondo, in southeast Switzerland.

Swiss Info reports the mountain sent four million cubic meters of rock through a Swiss village on Wednesday, damaging some buildings. The instability was well documented before the slide as a section of the mountain moved 30 centimeters over the last three years but predicting when it would collapse was impossible.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those missing and the rescuers who are working to find them.
