A tragic story finally came to its conclusion this weekend after rescue personnel found a skier who had been reported missing on Mount Rainier back on July 3rd.

According to The News Tribune, search and rescue discovered the 30 year-old skier’s body on Saturday after Pebble Creek had finally melted out– revealing the man’s corpse nearly 30 meters below where he was initially reported to have fell.

At first S+R officials had to avoid the area due to an unstable snowpack across the creek that was likely to collapse under the weight of a single person. Once enough snow had melted enough, eight people were deployed to recover the body. The man has yet to be identified.

*Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s friends and family.
