screen-shot-2017-02-14-at-2-58-03-pmA snowboarder who went missing yesterday afternoon at Stowe Ski Resort has passed away. 

Brett Cohen, 22, from Needham, Massachusetts was reported missing yesterday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

Ski Patrol personnel were joined by Stowe Mountain Rescue, Vermont State Police Search and Rescue, Waterbury Backcountry Rescue, Colchester Technical Rescue, the Stowe Police Department, Mt. Mansfield Ski Patrol and Stowe Rescue in the search for Cohen.

He was located in a wooded area off a ski trail at 11:30 p.m. last night. He was taken by Stowe Rescue to UVM Medical Center, where he died this morning.

Stowe, Vermont Police Chief Donald Hull said that the two friends got separated while skiing in the woods. Rescues found Cohen about 50- to 60-feet away from the ski trail.

The death appears to be an accident, Hull said.
Cohen was a senior at UVM.
