The Stowe Reporter’s Kim Brown just wrote a pretty provocative article about the rumors that have been swirling around Stowe for the past 96 hours. Apparently Vail’s purchase of the Vermont resort is imminent.
Kim Brown is speculating the deal went down this weekend:
“No one has yet gone public with this announcement but it seems that just maybe a deal was struck somewhere between Saturday night and Sunday morning. It does seem that Vail’s president happened to be here this past weekend, and yes Vail has been snapping up ski areas right and left in places as varied as Wisconsin — did you even know that Wisconsin had ski areas? — Australia and a place called Whistler-Blackcomb.”
The Evidence:
-Vail is on a resort buying spree.
-Vail’s president was in Stowe this past weekend.
-Vail PR folks admitted they were working on some random press release.
-Stowe’s PR has no comment to the claim.
There are also rumors that Smuggler’s Notch would be part of the deal but Smuggs is definitively the claims with this statement “In no uncertain terms, we are not for sale right now.”
