Apparently the spotlight didn’t do any favors for a Lynx who’s Facebook debut went viral as the animal was found dead by Purgatory ski patrol on Sunday.

According to the Denver Post, officials with Colorado Parks and Wildlife said that the Lynx appeared to be malnourished and was likely making its public appearances out of stress. In a statement, Scott Wait of CPW recounted the lynx sightings saying, “I saw three more videos of the same animal behaving the same way in the same area I figured that something was wrong with the cat.”A necropsy (*the wildlife version of an autopsy) will be carried out in the next few days to determine what actually killed the cat.
