A snow storm of biblical proportions will continue to impact the Sierra this weekend and so far, Mammoth Mountain is atop with podium with 7 FEET of quality fresh snow near the summit.

In the past two days, higher elevation resorts have benefitted from colder and higher snow totals while lake levels get pounded with rain (*some higher elevations getting heavy snow). And while lake level skiers and riders get depressed at all the snow turning to rain– we should all realize that this crazy precipitation is just what the historic drought needs.

“Very cold air ahead of this weekend’s strong atmospheric river event will result in snow spreading across eastern California and western Nevada on Saturday, starting around daybreak and continuing through much of the day.” – NWS Reno

Still, snow is forecasted starting tomorrow morning and should last through the end of next week. The higher elevations of the Sierra should be pretty filled in when all is said and done.
