Mount Bohemia is the midwest’s version of Mad River Glen. It’s ungroomed, untamed, and thanks to its unique geographic location– its snow (unlike Mad River) is drier than any of its nearby, mid-western neighbors.

Bottomline, Mount Bohemia is rad and it’s about to get a whole lot radder. According to the mlive.com, the Upper Peninsula ski area is currently building a hostel that will house bunk beds full of ski bums. The hope is to bring back skiing’s “party vibe” that was ever-present during the free-spirited and free-wheeling 60’s.

“In the 60s, skiing was really social. It had a party vibe. I think that’s what millennials are looking for… I think it’s really fun that we can bring back that atmosphere.”– Stacy Kremer, Mt Bohemia Media Relations Director (*Quote courtesy of mlive.com)

Right now, The UP’s premier ski area hosts a multitude of non-traditional lodging options that include yurts and cabins and the hostel will provide an additional 24 beds. The lodging will be split into two large rooms (one male, one female) that contain 12 bunk beds each.

In addition to the lodging, the hostel will also be home to a bar that specializes in craft beer and tasty cocktails as well as the largest hot tub in the Upper Peninsula! The structure should be completed by sometime this December.
