A stone age rock carving in Norway was vandalized by two youths in what is considered a “national tragedy” by a local mayor.  The two youths, whose names are not being released in fear of backlash, used a sharp object to trace along the carving in an apparent attempt to make it more visible to visitors as reported by rt.com.  The stone age carving located on the island of Tro off Nordland is the earliest evidence of skiing and was the inspiration behind the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games symbol as pictured below. Archaeologists fear the damage is irreversible.lillehammer
