Looks like little Noah’s first time skiing was resounding success. This just made my Friday. GO NOAH!
Here is an excerpt from the BLOG his Dad runs chronicling young Noah’s life to share their experiences with the world:
“Over the Christmas holiday we took a trip to see Noah’s grandparents (who happen to live in the beautiful mountains of Colorado) and one of the things that we knew we wanted to do this year was get Noah a ski lesson! Noah loves adventures and having fun, but I didn’t know how he was going to do with skis on his feet, in the super cold weather, on top of a mountain! But he did great! I literally felt like my heart was going to explode watching him ski!”
….right there with you Dad, my heart was exploding too!
Here are the 8 Tips his Dad wanted to share to have the best possible mountain experience with a special needs child, these are elaborated on in the blog so please go HERE for the full details:
1. Take a lesson!
2. Call the ski resort and ask their programs for children with disabilities. (DO THIS WELL IN ADVANCE OF YOUR TRIP!)
3. Rent your equipment
3. Get there early and let your child walk around in the equipment before their lesson.
4. Don’t take an all day lesson.
5. Find the right gloves!
6. Be flexible.
7. Have fun!
8. Take some pictures and videos!
Shoutout to Snowmass who partners with Challenge Aspen to provide the best possible service for people of all ages who need a little extra help. If you call ahead, “they will provide a ski buddy for people with special needs so that they can enroll in a typical ski class.”
Awesome work Noah, we are so happy you had a great first day on the hill!
