I-70

After the first real snowfall of the 15/16 winter season arrived in Colorado yesterday, I-70 is already getting hit hard with bumper to bumper traffic, accidents, and closures on Colorado’s main mountain thruway.

Earlier today, multiple accidents just east of the Eisenhower tunnel shut down traffic completely between Loveland Ski Area and Georgetown.

It took almost three hours to clear up all the accidents that began occuring as snow accumulated on I-70 in the mid-morning hours.

Although a good deal of these accidents are due to a lack of preparedness that typically accompany the first snow of the season, it’s also a sign that it’s snowing quite a bit up high.
