Amid speculation over grand plans of a Winter Olympiad being held on mountains with no snow that may or may not violate the boundaries of a supposed refuge, Chinese president Xi Jinping told International Olympic committee president Thomas Bach that China will “deliver on all its promises,” when it comes to the 2022 winter olympics.

The two met last week in the Chinese capital after Bach had spent time in Pyeongchang preparing for the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

In order to reassure Bach, President Xi claimed that the olympics will “contribute to the social and economic development of China and its people,” and “promote snow and ice sports not just to China’s 1.3 billion people but to the whole world.”

Overall, it seems as though the meeting went well a month after the selection committee was only four votes away from giving the games to Almaty Kazakstan, which boasts abundant snowfall and natural conditions. President Bach responded positively saying that the “Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 are a great opportunity for Beijing, the region and for China.”

Do you think China will “deliver on all its promises?”
