Its called the Waimea River. On the North Shore of Oahu the Waimea River sometimes gets dammed up with sand from high surf and if it is rainy the valley will experience high water.  If these conditions line up locals will dig a trench reconnecting the sea with the river and while it levels off it can create some incredible standing waves.  There are tons of videos of this event but these two are the best…..if only we could some how manipulate nature to create POW conditions.
