Alpenglow Sports is proud to announce the second installment of the 2014/15 Winter Film Series, presented by KTKE 101.5 and Blue Moon Brewing Company. On Thursday, December 18th, 2014 Chris Davenport, extreme skier of international fame, continues the series at Squaw Valley’s world-famous Olympic Village Lodge.

Now in it’s 9th year, the Alpenglow Sports Winter Film Series has become a staple seasonal event for North Tahoe’s skiing and climbing community. Designed to inspire, motivate and educate, the event runs from November through March and showcases five famous athletes. All shows are free and raffle prizes from sponsors are sold to raise funds for local non-profit organizations. The Sierra Avalanche Center, Lake Tahoe’s local avalanche forecasting agency, is the beneficiary for Chris Davenport’s show on December 18th.

“We’re very excited to welcome one of the most prominent ski mountaineers of all time to the Winter Film Series,” according to Alpenglow Sports owner Brendan Madigan. “It’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime type evening for our community to hear Chris speak,” added Madigan.

Davenport’s show “Lessons from the Mountains: The Art of Risk Management,” will discuss the important aspects of risk management as he takes the audience up and down the world’s highest peak, 29,029 foot Mt. Everest.

At 43 years old, Chris Davenport is well known as one of the world’s most accomplished big mountain skiers. In 2007 he became the first person to ski all fifty-four of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks in less than one year. Additionally, he has numerous first descents of peaks around the globe under his belt. Davenport has been featured in more than thirty ski films from Warren Miller and Matchstick Productions. He is also a two-time extreme skiing world champion.

On December 18th, Davenport will examine the techniques that inform his decision making processes in the mountains and explore elements of recent accidents in the Himalaya and beyond.

Amazing raffle prizes from generous sponsors Kastle, Spyder, Clif Bar, Black Diamond, Smith Optics, Red Bull, and GoPro will be on hand with 100% of proceeds to benefit the Sierra Avalanche Center.

Please come early for drink specials and good seating. The show begins at 7pm. Please call Alpenglow Sports at 530.583.6917 with questions.
