Nancy Egleston, 48, is dead after she stopped to clear her goggles on the intermediate Spar Gulch trail on Aspen Mountain at around 3:45 p.m.

Ski patrollers responded to the scene to find Egleston unconscious and unresponsive. Egleston was pronounced dead a short time later at Aspen Valley Hospital.

The Pitkin County Coroner’s report indicates that Egleston died of a traumatic brain injury.

At this time the Sheriff’s Office does not plan on pursuing any charges against the other skier.

Both skiers involved were wearing helmets.
