This is from Bridge Day, an annual BASE jumping celebration and spectacle in West Virginia. Hundreds of BASE jumpers leap off of the 876′ tall New River Gorge Bridge on Bridge Day and aside from a few tragedies, most land safely. This guy does not.

This video is from last Bridge Day (2011), and as you can see the BASE jumper in the wing suite just doesn’t pull his chute until right before he belly flops into the river below. In the video you can hear a surprised kid tell his mom,

“he’s not even doing a parachute”

And then SPLAT. The announcer then clearly struggled for words, because all he said was,

“let’s see…. ummm yea.”

I don’t know if this guy is alive or not, but if he is then he can take comfort in the fact that he is probably the only person who has walked away from a flawless 876 foot belly flop. He probably doesn’t BASE jump any more either.
