When you grown up playing video games with snowboarders breakdancing in mid air and throwing triple backflips off of 9000′ jumps, the impossible starts to look a lot less impossible. I assume that is what has been happening the last couple years with the 1 footed madness from shreds like Bode Merril, Scott Stevens and Nick Visconti.
Trying a one footed 720 japan is nuts, but Bode Merril stomps it as easily as pressing left, right, x, R1 (with a full special meter).
