Tomorrow, April 15th, will be the closing day for Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain and Snowmass. Unfortunately, due to an unseasonably warm and dry spring, Highlands Mountain was forced to close a week earlier than scheduled. Both Snowmass and Aspen were originally scheduled to close this weekend.

Today, Snowmass hosted its 5th annual Schneetag event, where teams of four build a float and then race them across a 40 x 100 foot pond. Additionally, each team is required to have a theme and perform a skit. Although this contest seems a bit ridiculous, the prizes are not. The prizes included a trip to ESPN Summer X Games in Los Angeles and tickets to a Colorado Rockies game. Congratulations to this year’s winner!

Traditionally, Highlands closing day is the party of the season in Aspen. Neon one pieces, Benny the Blade, DJ’s and a raging party scene celebrate the last turns of the ski season for Aspenites and their guests. Although, not a particularly memorable season in Aspen, locals are watching the snow fall currently and hoping for one last day of great skiing at Highlands Bowl.

Aspen local famous for his partying, jean shorts, rollerblade, and awesome attitude.
