Dakine Poacher Pack

Dakine Poacher PackA trusted veteran of ski patrollers and mountain enthusiasts, the Dakine Poacher Pack is the go-to Pack for your all around mountain needs.  Simple clean design allows good storage and easy access to skins, water bottle, and two top pockets for all your skiing accesseries.

Dakine Poacher – 45 Liters

The DAKINE Poacher has two different ski carry methods and a vertical snowboard carry. Top-loading and back-access entry options allow for easy skin and waterbottle access, an insulated hydro sleeve on the shoulder strap means your hydration tube stays thawed out. Adjust the internal frame to fit your carrying needs, and cinch down the load compression straps to minimize excess space. Quick-access pockets for your snow tools and avalanche gear means your safety tools are just a moment away.

In my opinion this is a 11/10 for comfort, ease of use, compatibility, and versatility.  There isn’t another bag on the market that can do what the poacher can do, sure there are a lot of straps but they all can be used for something.  A great backcountry pack or hut pack, it fills up and still has the right framing for hucking cliffs.

PROS:  The best feature of all the helmet strap that goes over the front of the pack, it neatly comes out of the flap and velcros down to the side straps of the A-frame ski carry mode, this way I can lock and load my helmet and goggles safely never leaving me with a dinged up helmet or frozen goggles.  Super comfortable, enough rigidity but not too much.  I love the double pockets up top.  The former pack had this weird under pocket with a clear see through panel (I think for maps) which was never used and only created lumpy compartments.  The new pack has two up top and I always have enough room for sunglasses, phone, smoked salmon, and some cliff bars.  The rear entry for skins makes switching over super fast and easy. Love this pack.

CONS:  I’m trying to think of any, I guess the price, it retails for MSRP $95.00 to $160.00.  But we all know how important your backpack is so with a warranty that is iron-clad and many options for retailers you can’t go wrong with this pack.
