Unofficial Steamboat makes it to Squaw and makes tribute video, on international G.N.A.R. DAY 2012

Eight days ago I had the trip of a lifetime. I was able to venture out to this big place where the snow falls like rain and the women all look like Debbie Dutton… a little place called Squaw Valley! I was there with a group of teenagers from the Colorado Freeride Big Mountain Team. We just happened to be in Squaw on such a memorable day, International G.N.A.R. day! Without thinking of what to do in our free time, we were out filming a tribute video.

We were at Squaw for the Junior Freeskiing Tour. The venue for the competition was perfect for the young adults. There was multiple airs and many different line options. The north facing run, Enchanted Forest, held the snow and was hidden from the hot afternoon sun. The weather was glorious, bluebird and in mid 50’s for the most part (we left the day it started dumping).

Even with the current snow pack, the athletes and myself were stoked just to be at such a place. We all have seen G.N.A.R. and I grew up watching all the pros move to Cali and slay sick-gnasty lines in the Tahoe area. I think I was more excited to be at Squaw than the teenagers. The Tahoe area stole my heart and now I am in love. Hopefully next time mother nature will put out and show me the real Squallywood!
