MAMMOTH CONDITIONS UPDATE – March 18, 2012 | You wanted more (right?)… So we went out and got more. What we have here is an example of the “early bird gets the deep un-tracked pow!”

Saturday evening temps dropped, the snow continued to fall and Sunday morning we rejoiced. A foot+ of some of the season’s lightest pow refilled and reset the Mountain giving us some of the best turns of the year. Yes, that’s a foot+ on top of the 3+ feet we received Friday night/Saturday day.

And what’s even better, after the pow was hacked and slashed and all the pow hounds retreated to their dens, the snow may have actually gotten even better. Why? A West wind ruled the hill, taking our light, dry new pow and buffing nearly all exposed runs into some of the most hero-ific snow of all time. Yes, any run out in the open and you could get barreled every turn if you so pleased. And did I mention guests were scarce in the afternoon? Hey, not that I’m complaining… just sayin’.

Well, Winter’s here and I’ll go ahead and say it, “better late than never.”
