Klaus & homies getting there HUCK on back in the day, yo.

“You told me that when you were a little kid, you learned to Jump before you could turn?” – Interviewer

“Oh, yeah.  We had jumping skis.” – Klaus Obermeyer

Klaus Obermeyer is always laughing.  Smiling and laughing.  I’ve had the chance to meet this gentleman a few times.  Most recently, I talked with him at the SIA show in Denver where he was wearing a suit while standing at the entrance to his Obermeyer booth right at the front door of the show.

“Being able to slide down a mountain is like being able to surf a huge wave.” – Klaus

Klaus just stood there at the front of his booth and smiled and talked to anyone who’d listen.

“I don’t have any favorite runs, I dont’ even have a favorite mountain.” – Klaus

Who do you know these days that shares that perspective?  Nowadays, we all have a favorite mountain and we defend it vehemently, myself included.  How cool would it be to have Klaus’ attitude about snow?

“I’m glad to see jumping coming back.” – Klaus

Klaus is 92-years-old and still mobbing around the hill.  Not bad for a guy that learned to jump before he could turn.

What did you think about this video?  Inspiring?  Cool to learn a bit about the old days?
