Well, the “Big” storm did not play out the way that the always accurate and reliable forecast had predicted with Snowbird and Alta picking up maybe 6-8 inches total this weekend rather than the 30″+ that were promised. Oh well….the riding was really great anyway.
Snowbird was super busy on Monday, with longer lines than we have seen all year on some lifts. The Cirque Traverse and Upper Cirque were thick with folks that seemed more interested in looking around than they were in skiing. Unfortunately the Tram was down for a few hours in the late morning/early afternoon due to a mechanical issue. Luckily this issue was resolved fairly quickly and tram junkies young and old rejoiced.
Fantastic snow could be found on North Baldy all weekend long and the Griswalds don’t seem to like to hike, so you could ride fantastic snow and dodge the crowds by putting in just a little effort. The Alta sidecountry was also skiing well with both Rocky Point and Patsy Marley providing deep pow on Sunday. Saturday was also great due to walk on trams and soft snow. I can’t wait to see what the next few days of walk ons will bring us….
