Where’s the Powder?

So, I’ve been out of the loop. I was going stir crazy and had to jump ship. I am not the kind to sit still and wait for the weather to change. I don’t watch the flowers grow and I don’t watch the leaves fall off trees. Sure, it was supposed to be winter and I “should” have gone skiing somewhere. Afterall, it is dumping somewhere on planet earth. Japan has been dubbed Japow, Switzerland is getting crushed, AK is being shoveled out as we speak and Colorado just got a system. I read on Unofficial that folks are skiing pow in Jackson. Shit, people are dying in Eastern Europe (Serbia, Poland, Ukraine) because they are snowed in, don’t have power and can’t re-up their supplies. It hasn’t stopped snowing for them in 30 days! It just snowed on me in the Mediterranean. I saw a guy on the local news being pulled on a snowboard behind a car in Barcelona.

Things are strange these days with the weather. As a ski photographer and just a skier in general you got to make the best and get your rocks off in one way or another. I caught a handful of trash talk the last couple weeks because I jumped ship and went on a climbing trip and was posting lines and stories from Spain. I feel really bad and feel like I should apologize to anyone that I upset for going to Europe instead of shralping Mountain Run. I admit that the climbing of perfect limestone and the gulping of sweet Spanish red wine was clearly a mistake. I will not do it again this season. I am on my way back to the states and am ready to get my skis waxed up and grab a stick of juicy fruit.

So, what’s the deal in Cali? Is there snow? No snow, a little snow? What have you all been doing? This is not a question for Brennan Lagasse because I am sure he’s been skiing sick lines daily. We all do things on a weekly basis just to get our rocks off. I ate a rabbit the other day. I was in a French restaurant and that little guy was the special. It seems like all they serve in those restaurants are baby animals; little birds, little snails, veal, young lamb… kind of messed up. You should have seen my face when I realized it was served in a reduced blood and a wine sauce. Wow, that sounds good a rabbit served in its own blood. Oh, how I love traveling.

Don’t be downer by bitching and complaining in the comment box because you had a bad day while I was dancing till dawn in Barcelona, add something to the community. Also, if you have any good lines that you think I would be interested in, drop me an email. See you back in Tahoe !!
