Mount Rose in Lake Tahoe has filed an improvement proposal with the US Forest Service and Washoe County. That proposal involves spending $23.5 million over the next 10 years improving Mount Rose Ski Resort.
MOUNT ROSE IMPROVEMENT PLAN:
1. Expansion of terrain adding a 99-acre zone called Atoma
1b. Atoma will be primarily beginner terrain
1c. Atoma will connect to the rest of the ski resort by a new 3,500 foot ski lift and ski bridge over the Mt Rose Hwy
2. Galena and Ponderosa lifts removed and replaced by a single, 5,000 foot long high speed quad
3. Lakeview Chair will be extended
4. New mountaintop restaurant
5. Expanded trails
6. Expanded snowmaking capabilities
This improvement plans sounds like it’ll be a good thing for both experts and beginners. Rose is a cool resort with some great terrain in “The Chutes.” Reno, Nevada is only about 30 minutes away.
