As a kid growing up in the 80’s Blizzard of Aaahh’s was the end all and be all of skiing radness. It is “classic ski escapism” with the ultimate skiers skiing the most exotic locations. The film reaches its climax when Scot Schmidt and Glan Plake arrive in the “extreme skiing capital of Europe,”  Chamonix, France.

So, in February of 2010 when Glen Plake, acting as unofficial guide and historian, offered to take the Unofficial crew of JT Holmes, Tim Dutton, Jackie Paaso, David Rosenbarger, Jeff Wright and myself on a tour off the infamous French lift, Aigulle de Midi, we jumped at the opportunity.  Not only is Mr. Glen Plake a phenomenal skier and outstanding person, he has also skied off of the Aigulle de Midi (one of the 10 BEST Ski Lifts in the WORLD) more times then just about any Californian. The day ended up including glacier skiing, a Chamonix history lesson and some classic Glen Plake ski ballet. All and all it was a tremendous day in the French Alps with a skiing icon. Thanks Glen!
