It has recently been announced that the 2018 Winter Olympics will be held in the City of Pyeongchang in South Korea. The city won the bid over Munich Germany and Annecy France after failing to do so in their last two bids. Pyeongchang crushed their competition, getting 63 out of the 95 Olympic Committee votes, while Munich got 25 votes and Annecy got 7 votes.

The Winter Olympics have twice been in Japan, but have never been held in any other Asian countries. This marks the first Olympics held in South Korea since the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. The slogan of these Olympic Games will be “New Horizons”.
