saminfo.com bring us this look at La Parva’s push to become the premier freeride resort in South America.

SAM Magazine: La Parva, Chile – La Parva, located 50 kilometers outside of Santiago, Chile has unveiled a comprehensive plan designed to develop the freeride and freeski potential of the resort intended to make it a world-class freeride and freeski destination.

Now that men’s and women’s ski halfpipe are in the 2014 Olympics, “We knew it was time to develop this part of La Parva,” said Rodrigo Medina, director of sales and business development. “To that end, the resort will be developing a world-class training facility catering to freeski and freeride athletes, with an expected completion date of June 2012.”

La Parva’s effort includes development of an exclusive “Athlete Lodge” designed to meet the needs of elite athletes, dry land training facilities, and media rooms where teams can review footage of training runs. “The facility will be a complete on and off snow destination where teams can harness the skills they need to be the best in the sport,” Medina said.

In addition, the resort is installing a new high-speed freeride-specific lift that will serve a sector of the resort that is the prospective location for a new halfpipe and freestyle training area.
