Local ski legend and Squaw Valley Freestyle / Freeride coach, Kevin O’Meara, dropped this note on Facebook that we felt was worth sharing.
“All week long all I keep hearing is people talking about the mainline pocket superpipe. In case you haven’t heard, Red Bull built it for their athletes and it was opened to the public for the past week. People have been referring to it as the “tube of terror” and the “ditch of doom”. Sure, my first run I was like, “whoa”… but at the end of the day, I think I’ll call it the “U-topia”. And so I look to you, Squaw Valley USA, and I ask, can we PLEASE have a full time superpipe in mainline pocket? Like the old days? You know halfpipe IS an olympic event (for skiing too) now…”
