Now that we are getting into the heart of the ski season there are more events going on than you have time to go to. I guess you could make it to most of them if you stopped skiing, but then what would be the point of living here? Or better yet what would be the point of living at all? I am getting off task here. Lots to do this week, here are some of the highlights:
Jan. 20th- Jan. 30th – Sundance Film Festival in Park City
There are so many events, film screenings, live music shows and after parties in PC this week it will make your head spin. The after parties will actually more likely make your head hurt. I am too busy skiing to keep up with all the films that are coming this year, so I recommend reading the City Weekly Survival Guide for Sundance.
Saturday Jan. 22nd – Far East Movement @ The Yard – 1251 Kearns Blvd
Park City – 208-720-1146
Get it on “Like a G6” style up in Park City! It is Sundance dammit, get on up to PC to oggle some stars, pay huge covers to get into bars that are usually cover free, and get your dance shoes all sweated up.
Saturday Jan. 22nd – People Under the Stairs @ The Urban Lounge – 241 S. 500 East
801-746-0557
Going to the Urban Lounge usually requires wearing stupid tight jeans and some kind of dumb looking hat, so you can fit in with all the hipsters. However, this weekend things are a little more hip-hoppy with the People Under the Stairs doing their thing. I would go gold chain and baggier pants but thats just me.
Sunday Jan. 23rd– North Face Masters @ Snowbird
The finals of the Masters have been pushed to Sunday due to weather. Plan on skiing powder all day to day and resting you little legs tomorrow while spectating below North Baldy with a brew and a brat. Its like baseball, except actually fun to watch!
Thursday Jan. 27th – Rebelution – The Depot – 400 W. South Temple $20
801-456-2800
I saw these young Reggae rock stars at the Depot last spring and they were pretty damn good. If you wanna meet some hippy dude/ chick with dreds that knows way more about “how the world should be man”, you should roll on down to the Depot Thursday night.
Friday Jan. 28th – GNAR The Movie @ Our Lady of the Snow @ Alta @ 6:30pm
If you missed the premier last week at the Canyon Inn we are doing another showing at Alta just for you. Â Doors @ 6:30pm. Show @ 7:00pm. BYOB and bring your friends too. This is a movie that shares well.
