DJ Jalal is from Buffalo and that is about all I could find out about him for you. I checked out his myspace page and listened to a track or two. El Matador is a cool little joint that is kind of a light, airy, jazzy, electronic, mellow techno that got my morning started nicely. Check him out if you have no family or friends to hang with on Xmas eve.

Holy Water Buffalo CD release party
These young Heber lads just won Velour’s battle of the bands in Provo, which should assure a decent amount of interest in their new CD, which they’re celebrating with a show that also includes Max Pain & the Groovies and Red Dog Revival. They’re part of the ‘60s psychedelia-meets-garage rock revival that’s blossoming in Utah’s music scene, and just might be one of its best proponents. Not really my cup o tea, but hey you are probably more of a Hippy than I am. cover $5

Herban Empire
HE is an Alternative Reggae band from Salt lake City, Utah. Their influences include 311, Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Roots, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Filter, Kings of Leon, The Doors, Rush, Rage Against the Machine, The Allman Brothers, Thin Lizzy and many others. Wow! What a list….anyone who did not influnce you guys?

SLC New Year’s Eve celebration
Looks like SLC is going to throw one hell of a New Years party this year. I have never attended this event in the past, but the website has me intrigued. I especially want to check out the Battle of the Tribute Bands.
