Well, winter has come to the San Juans and it is here to stay. Today simply went off with Chair 9’s opening! While the resort reported 2″, there was close to a foot in town when I walked the mutt this morning. When I arrived up top, there was easily two feet in the trees! There were straight-lines, small pillows, and needles being threaded, all while it puked continually throughout the day. The select group who got up early giggled like schoolgirls while apparently everyone else was hung from the night before. Chair 9 remained relatively empty until around 11:00. Cold smoke, untouched lines for hours and ultimate bliss ensued. Definitely a well deserved POW day for Telluride! One of the best parts of the day however, may have been the gondola ride home where there was talk of more…several feet more on the way. Let’s hope for another amazing day out there tomorrow!
