Backcountry Zones: North Shore

Jackson Hole, Jackson Backcountry, North Shore, North Shore Jackson, North Shore Skiing, North Shore Backcountry, North Shore Snowboarding

Description: The North Shore is one of my favorite zones in the Jackson backcountry. Although it’s a short shot, it’s easy to lap and there’s pretty much endless lines. Boot-packing is an option, but I think skins are the better way to go. Getting back to the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort there are a couple of options: climbing back towards Cody Peak and skiing out Four Pines, Pinedale, or Rock Springs, alternatively one can ski all the way out the scenic (albeit a bit lengthy) Granite Canyon. From the bottom of North Shore, either will take some time (at least an hour) so plan accordingly.

Jackson Hole North Shore Specs:

Access: Jackson Hole Tram

Equipment: Beacon, Probe, Shovel, Skins (optional, but boot packing can be a pain in the ass)

Time needed: 2-3hours, base to base, but spending the whole day out there is the way to go because it’s such a short shot.
