Tahoe Weather Geeks, which can be found over at TahoeLoco.com, have been doing a great job all season on weather predictions. Here is their latest sent out this morning.

Lake Tahoe and the entire Sierra are stuck in another prolonged dry spell, and the nearest relief in sight is still about a week away. Expect a mild weekend with only a few clouds on Saturday as the far southern edge of a storm passing near the Canadian border brushes past Northern California. Temperatures will moderate after the passage of that front but will remain about normal or even a little above.
The ridge of high pressure parked again along the Pacific coast should begin to weaken early next week, allowing the “storm door” to open at least a crack. A storm system approaching California around Tuesday or Wednesday appears likely to split into two pieces as it collides with that high pressure ridge. Computer models differ about how and when the system will move ashore. If it comes directly across the Sierra, we could see some snow. But at this point there is just as great a chance that the major piece of energy from the system will bounce off the ridge and slide south along the coast to Southern California before heading east on Thursday. None of that offers much hope for snow-starved Tahoe. But that’s all we have to lean on at the moment.
