It’s not gonna be cold enough to snow, but have you looked at Squaw’s forecast for the next week? Starting Tuesday there’s a chance of precipitation everyday through next Tuesday.

Labor Day has come and gone, it just snowed in the Rocky Mountains, and in case you haven’t noticed, it’s getting colder and colder at night in Tahoe.

“Officially” it’s still summer for a few more weeks, but us locals, and you weekend warriors all know, Tahoe’s weather is so perfect you can basically turn your brain off come summer and trust it’s gonna be sunny and bluebird just about everyday until fall/winter. But as soon as a forecast like this shows, it reminds us all how quickly things can change in the Sierra Nevada.

When’s the last time you saw Squaw’s forecast showing potential precipitation for several days in a row? June?

With all the South American footage making you drool everyday, Colorado, Montana, and other parts of the intercontinental western US getting fresh snow, are you stoked, or are you dreading that there’s still snow to ski in the Sierra, and summer has been all of 3 months?

Seriously, are you looking forward to a change in the weather, or just praying for another month or two of perfect Tahoe weather? You know it could go either way, but which way will it go, and which way do you hope it goes?

We were still getting face shots in early June, we had another winter weather advisory hit us in late June, and the first fresh turns of the 2010-2011 season were harvested within the first week of October last year.

Odds are, we’d all like a few more days on the lake as it’s the warmest it ever gets just about now, but at the same time the anticipation for winter is like like that thing that you don’t really have to deal with until you acknowledge it. You can try and ignore it, but if you pay even the slightest bit of attention to it, it grows and grows and grows until you just can’t stop thinking about it anymore.

So for the sake of adding fuel to the fire, let’s hear it Sierra skiers and riders. What’s the UNOFFICIAL word?

Stoked for snow when it snows?

Ready for it sooner than later?

If it didn’t snow till Thanksgiving (or later) you’d be happy?
