While the debates reach astronomical ratings, it seems as good a time as any to compare each candidate’s stance on a pair of skis.

From family-focused chinese downhills to face-to-face meetings with gold medalists, the four candidates’ histories on the ski slopes vary widely. Still, those histories are what the ski bum constituency needs to know in order to get out the vote prior to election day. So without further ado, we start this four-part series with a look into how GOP candidate, Donald J. Trump stacks up to his kiddos on a pair of planks.

A reenactment of The Donald’s fatherly ski instruction

While the Donald doesn’t think too much of exercise in general, he does ski and his competitive spirit can be matched only by the likes of Rudy Garmisch.

In an interview with New York magazine back in 2010, Donald’s daughter Ivanka recounted skiing as children with their father saying, “We were sort of bred to be competitive,” to which she added, “Dad encourages it. I remember skiing with him and we were racing. I was ahead, and he reached his ski pole out and pulled me back.”

Sound familiar because it should…

Rudy Garmisch pulled the exact same move against Harkin Banks during his losing run at the 1984 Chinese Downhill in Squaw Valley, CA. In the same article Eric J. Trump remembered a similar event saying, “He would try to push me over, just so he could beat his 10-year-old son down the mountain.” And while such shenanigans are expected in the realm of the Chinese Downhill, I have a feeling this is when Dan O’Callaghan would tell Trump, “You’re a grade A asshole.”

Tune in next for our look into Libertarian candidate, Gary Johnson’s shredigree.
