Big news in the world of snowmaking as Boreal Mountain in Tahoe is the first resort in North America to utilize “The Snowfactory”, a snow-making system for use in above freezing temps.
The Snowfactory works by freezing and harvesting water in what amounts to an air conditioning unit the size of large semi trailer that is then sprayed through a snowgun according to The Tahoe Daily Tribune.
It works at any temperature unlike traditional snow-making that requires a temperature of 28°F or below and will be providing fresh snow for the Woodward Camp held at Boreal all summer long.
