Might be a strategy to make up for lost revenue during the unusually mild beginning of the midwestern winter but Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minnesota plans on allowing lift access downhill fat biking every Sunday from 10am-4pm.  It costs $48 if you walkup to the ticket counter and availability is limited so we suggest you use their website to pre-purchase. Good news if you have already purchased your 2016 mountain bike pass to the mountain, those are valid.

Here are the rules that all bikers must follow, notice minimum tire width:

  • Minimum tire width 3.5″
  • Helmet Required
  • Brakes for each wheel are required
  • A seat/seat post inspection  is required prior to allowing bike on chair lift
  • All tickets, parking, inspections happen out of ourGrand Avenue Chalet located at 8551 Grand Ave Duluth, MN.  Please note: due to winter snow tubing operations, mountain bike parking and access to trails is not available from our Adventure Park.
  • Must abide by Bike Responsibility Code & Trail Code
  • Terrain open will vary during the season based upon snow pack, conditions, etc.  Visit out snow report for updates.
  • Planned open trails are Timber Cruiser, Juggler Joe as well as Mountain Bike trails of Candy Land, Happy Camper & Lower Calculated Risk

Very cool that this urban ski resort is trying to appeal to an untraditional demographic with their fat bike program. Looks like they have very diverse activity offerings for such a small resort including tubing and this bitching snowtrain.
