Who would have thought that the first cat skiing operation east of Colorado would pop up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula?

Well, if you ski Mt. Bohemia then it may come as no surprise at all because that’s exactly what’s happening as the midwest’s only “extreme” resort is creating what they are billing as “the first snowcat operation east of the Rockies.”

According to the Mt. Bohemia website, the operation will take skiers to the summit of Voodoo Mountain where skiers will descend 700 ft. through gladed runs. Once at the bottom, a snowcat will be waiting to pick up skiers for another run.

“When fully built out Voodoo Mountain will stretch almost 2.5 miles wide and encompass four peaks with skiing on two sides and dramatic views of Lake Superior. It could eventually offer more than 1400 acres of skiable terrain making it by far the largest ski area in the Midwest.” – Vern Barber General Manager Mount Bohemia

However, the runs themselves won’t be necessarily as rad or EXTREME as Mt. Bohemia’s famed terrain.

“This will be a different development than Bohemia. Voodoo Mountain will offer a more intermediate terrain than Bohemia in contrast to the rugged adventure of the steeper Mount Bohemia. But the views will be ever bit as breath-taking as every North facing run will overlook Lake Superior.”– Trail Builder Steve Rowe
