Government Camp, Oregon — While there will be summer skiing at Timberline this year, it’s going to be for a shorter timeframe than usual.

Yesterday, Mt. Hood Summer Ski Camps, which operates programs at the ski resort, revealed that Timberline’s projected closing date is July 19th. This will limit the number of camps they typically host. Based on how this ski season though, you could argue that closing date isn’t gaurenteed. Timberline has seen only 297″ inches of snow during the 2025-26 season, which is below average. However, Timberline could see a couple of feet of snow in the days ahead.
Timberline hosts summer operations from the Magic Mile and Palmer chairlifts. There are separate zones for spaces like ski racers, mogul skiers, and terrain park riders to work on their skills. Summer operations cater to skiing and riding competitors, as it’s one of the only places in the United States where they can train during the summer. The hours are typically from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Typically, Timberline ends its season in August. In good years, they have made it to September. For perspective, last year saw a closing on August 17th. An expected July closing shows that even a high-elevation location like Timberline has had a difficult season.
