BBC Olympics Trailer.
BBC Olympics Trailer.

The Winter Olympics are coming up in just a few days (first events start of Wednesday, February 4th, opening ceremony is Friday, February 6th), and with it comes a storm of trailers and media promoting the official broadcasters and their streams. Some are pretty cool, some are pretty lame, but this one from the BBC is the coolest we’ve seen.

The trailer aims to emphasize both the iconic Olympic Flame and the records that tend to break at every Olympics, focusing on the phrase “Trails Will Blaze”.

If that video isn’t cool enough for you, know that it was done completely in stop motion using 3D printed characters for each and every frame. Plus the flames are actual sparks and flames created through burning steel wire. It no doubt took some serious work, all to create a 45 second trailer for the Winter Olympics. Watch how they made it below:

As an important note, while the BBC is the official broadcaster for the Winter Olympics in the United Kingdom, viewers in the United States will need to tune into NBC, the USA Network, and CNBC, or subscribe to Peacock.
