Snowbird's hilarious Christmas-themed safety PSA.

Staying out of closed areas and slowing down in a slow zone are both incredibly vital aspects of ski resort safety, but skiing within your ability shouldn’t be overlooked. The Snowbird social media pointed out that fact in a hilarious PSA using everyones favorite Christmas grump, the Grinch.

Remembering to ski inside your ability level is more of a convoluted safety requirement than the others. You should push yourself on the mountain, getting into terrain that’s more difficult than what you’ve done in the past, but it’s vital that you do so gradually and with caution, taking your time down new routes rather than trying to get it over with as fast as possible.

Snowbird is open for the 2025/2026 ski season, but their terrain is still a bit limited. Just 55 inches of snow have fallen at the resort, a stark difference from their usually snowfall. The base depth currently sits at 24 inches, and 20 of 149 trails are currently open to the public. During this extremely busy time of year, it’s vital that you slow down and give plenty of space between you and the other skiers/snowboarders on the mountain. Stay in control and remember that the downhill skier always has the right of way.
