Canada — Rankings of the top ski resorts in Canada typically have a common number one choice, and similar picks rounding out the list. So it comes as a surprise when a freeskier omits that number one pick entirely.

Nick Steers is a freeride skier and a bungee jumping instructor. This means that he’s experienced in skiing hard-core terrain and has bigger guts than you and I. Recently, Nick shared his top five ski resorts in Canada, and it’s got some surprising picks.

His top five includes Panorama, Kicking Horse, Mont Tremblant, Lake Louise, and Revelstoke. Nick’s picks come down to the terrain, snow quality, and views.

There are some critics of his picks, as they’re primarily surprised by Panorama. While it’s technically located on the Powder Highway, it doesn’t receive significant snowfall totals. While that is true, it does feature some memorable untouched terrain thanks to its snowcat experiences.

The other surprise is the omission of Whistler. The reason Whistler isn’t on the list is that Nick hasn’t been there for around eight years. The ski resort has undergone some changes in that span, as Vail Resorts now owns it and has installed new lifts. I believe Whistler deserves to be on the list, despite its flaws. Its terrain variety and lift network make it hard to beat, even if it can get crowded.

If you’re looking for more quality skiing and bungee jumping content, check out his YouTube or IG pages. The only negative thing that I can say about the page is that he does use that Anxiety song in one of his videos. I nearly got the song out of my head before watching that, smdh.
