Chris Tomer mountain weather forecast 9/10.

As the fall takes hold across the United States and skiers and snowboarders everywhere start to get more and more antsy for the winter season, everyone’s favorite mountain weather meteorologist Chris Tomer is back in action with his daily mountain weather updates. While it certainly feels quite a bit too warm for snowfall, Tomer is pointing out a chance of very light snow in some of the country’s highest mountains.

Chris Tomer’s Mountain Forecast

Chris Tomer’s mountain weather update is looking like it could be quite a positive for snow lovers. Initially, two to three strong cold fronts, drawing in monsoon moisture, will likely deliver light snow to high elevations (13,000โ€“14,000 feet) in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, southwest Montana, the high Uintas, and Wind Rivers. Specifically, snowfall will occur around September 11โ€“12, 16โ€“17, and 21โ€“22, with up to 2โ€“6 inches accumulating at the highest peaks. Low-pressure systems and jet stream dips from the Pacific Northwest drive these conditions.

Meanwhile, improved air quality reflects lower smoke concentrations in Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming. Additionally, satellite imagery and atmospheric models reveal rising moisture and humidity, especially around September 11โ€“12 in Coloradoโ€™s San Juan Mountains, where freezing levels hover at 13,000โ€“14,000 feet. This forecast matches early fall patterns, with light snow targeting the highest elevations.
