“Its so dangerous one lift operator said he saw 21 people die in front of his eyes.” –Nikolai Schirmer

Faster than heli-skiing, faster than snowmobiling and certainly faster than walking, The Skyway Monte Biano is one of the most efficient forms of uphill travel in the world of skiing but with its convenience comes a heavy price.

Opened in 2015 at a cost of 110 million euros, the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car is located in the Italian Alps where it shuttles visitors up 3,500 meters to the spectacular glaciers of Mont Blanc. Its new, its speedy and if you can make a 4000ft descent in 15 minutes and catch 4 cable cars an hour you can rack up 16,000ft in 60 minutes.

The area is avalanche prone and locals rule of thumb is end your day by noon if the sun is strong on the south facing slope. Tag along with Nikolai Schirmer and his crew of skiers as they take on the “Most Efficient Skiing In The World”
