“I thought he was dead. I thought I lost my son. I couldn’t see him breathing and I was trying to check for a pulse.” -Dad
Icy conditions in the Wasatch Mountains led to this 5-year-old little boy taking a 1000ft slide that knocked him unconscious. Miraculously he was released from the hospital the same day with just a broken hand and some scratches.
KSL reports Matthew and his dad John were out skiing Saturday when the boy started accelerating. He fell face first, was knocked unconscious and kept sliding. Matthew slid uncontrolled through trees and rugged terrain. When John finally caught up with his son he found him unconscious with a cracked helmet.
Thankfully Matthew regained consciousness minutes later with first responders arriving shortly after that. He was rushed to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. Matthew is recovering and looking forward to getting back on the slopes:
