As it stands, June of 2015 was the warmest June on record for the United States and if things stay warm throughout the rest of the year, the United States could look to have a record-breaking year in terms of heat. At least that is what a conglomeration of meteorological sources from NOAA, NASA, and The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) are reporting after a unusually soggy May gave way to record highs across the U.S.
Here are the findings as reported by Outside Magazine
- NASA’s records show a tie between this year’s June and that of 1998.
- JMA shows in its report that this past month’s temperature surpassed their average that’s been kept since 1981.
- NOAA, which started keeping records in the late 19th century, shows the mean temperature in June of 2015 was 2.9 degrees higher than the 20th century average.
